Here is the break down of our honeymoon in Malaysia, Borneo & Dubai where we spent three weeks travelling between the three. We had always wanted to spend three weeks on our honeymoon(or more), there was lots of options. Our date got moved around so much -thanks covid. So our destination had to keep changing, based on the destination and the best time to go.
We planned to visit Malaysia, added on Borneo and broke up the trip home with a little stop off in Dubai.
Kuala Lumpur > Langkawi > George Town, Penang > Pangkor Laut > Kota Kinabalu, Borneo > Gaya Island > Dubai

Here is a little breakdown of our trip to Malaysia, Borneo & Dubai Itinerary
Kuala Lumpur – 2 days
Spend a few days wandering around this incredible city. It is often just a stop gap for lots of people travelling Asia. We spend two days exploring the city and eating THE BEST FOOD!! One of the best meals we had in Malaysia was in Kuala Lumpur.
Langkawi – 4 days
Unfortunately our time in Langkawi was a little too damp, it barely stopped raining for our four days here. We made the most of it and tried explore what we could on one of the greenest island I have ever visited. Including getting a cable car with incredible views over the island.
George Town, Penang – 3 days
Three blissful days in George Town. We LOVED George Town, the weather was great and the food was Incredible!! We ate and drank our way around George Town. Visiting all of the areas of this city- chinese, Malay + Indian and just eating our way around the city. Before heading to Penang Hill and exploring.
Pangkor Laut, Penang – 3 days
Private island bliss, now I knew I was going to love this island and it took my breath away from the minute I arrived. This island is paradise. The restaurants are impeccable, we stayed in an over water bungalow which was incredible. This was the most honeymoon part of our whole trip.
Sunset drinks at the beach bar were also a highlight.
Kota Kinabalu – 2 days
We had a 2 day stop over in Kota Kinabalu before heading over to Gaya island. We spent 2 days here enjoying a quick relax and visiting markets at night.
Gaya Island – 3 days
Was another incredible stay on another small island, very secluded resort set in rainforest. With so many activities on offer exploring the island and hiking trails or relaxing on this gorgeous island.
Dubai – 3 days.
Which ended up being more like 2 due to flight delays. Dubai was just a quick stop to break up the travel home. There was not much planned for this last leg of the trip. It was more of just a chill on the Dubai beaches before heading back home & trying to avoid jet lag.
Thoughts on our Malaysia, Borneo & Dubai honeymoon Itinerary
All in all we felt this was the perfect itinerary of fitting in all that we wanted to do in the limited time we had. I could have spent months travelling around these countries, my heart is in Asia. There was a combination of city and beach which was great. I just wish we could have gone for 1 month plus and explored much more.
